How to Claim Free Steam Games Automatically
The Free Games feature allows you to discover and claim free games on Steam, either manually or automatically. This is perfect for users who want to expand their game library without spending money.
DLC, free-to-play games, and games that you already own are not shown in the Free Games list
Manual Redemption
Click Free Games in the sidebar
Click the Claim button on individual games to claim them
SGI claims the game directly for you, no browser or extra sign-in needed for most claims
If you signed in with Legacy Sign-in, a Steam login window may briefly open the first time you claim a game, or after a long period without claiming one — sign in via username/password or by scanning the QR code, and later claims won't need this again unless your session expires
Optionally, if you would prefer to not sign into your Steam account at all, you can visit the game's Steam store page in your browser and claim it manually
After claiming a free game, refresh your games list by clicking Refresh in the page header of Games
Automated Redemption
How you enable this depends on how you signed in
Steam Sign-in
Just enable Auto Redeem Free Games in Settings → Free Games, no separate sign-in step needed
Legacy Sign-in
Go to Settings → Free Games and click Sign in to Steam and sign in to your Steam account in the new window via:
- Username and password
- Scanning the QR Code
Automatic Claiming
As free games become available, SGI will automatically attempt to redeem them to your Steam account
